Digital Illustration

Hi!

I'm taking my Illustration electives this year of which I have Digital Illustration, Intro to watercolour, and Pen, Ink & Scratchboard.

In my Digital Illustration class, photoshop proved rather difficult for me. I was not used to any of the brushes and struggled a lot to achieve more contrast in my work, having painted in rather muted palettes for a majority of my personal work.

Yesterday was only the second class. We did a speed test in which we had to copy a Frank Frazetta illustration within 30 minutes. Frazetta's compositions were very dynamic and a strong point in his fantasy illustrations so it was not only how fast you could copy but also your accuracy in capturing the essential elements within the piece you have chosen.

Here's mine:

Overall I think I am very excited for the class because Photoshop is something I've always wanted to be better at. So I will work hard!

Drapery Study

Charcoal and White Pastel
My drawing final is to do a drapery study and this took much longer than I anticipated...like always.
Anywho, drawing is finally done! I just need to wait to see how my critique will go!

Avengers!

So many feelings from the Avengers! I saw it on Friday with a bunch of my friends late at night and it was pretty incredible! Truthfully I had my doubts on the movie but it was brilliantly filmed, the interactions among everyone was delightful, the action thrilling and so many emotions thrown in here and there. I love the bromance between the hulk and iron man; and the hulk basically made the movie for me. Nothing was excessive, everything was perfect. And Phil Coulson was one badass fanboy. I just needed to draw him after the movie!!!! And of course Loki was just as sinister and menacing as I imagined; Tom Hiddleston is just flawless. Need I say more.

Some cute gifs I made for len-yan and loika of our pottermore characters!

Studio Work: Figure Drawing

Over the course of this semester, I'm gradually improving with figure drawing which is really nice to see. I kept changing mediums though and found that after all this time of using charcoal and conte, I really just like the appeal of graphite. Also my professor had constantly told me that I go too dark too fast with conte crayon so had suggested I used vine charcoal. I found vine too messy to deal with, however.

The Marsh

Went to a marsh for a field trip and illustrated the experience with a pop-up book for concepts class where we celebrate the small, overlooked events in our daily life.

SideNotes: Don't be hasty

"Gryffindor," Clarke barked from the end of the third floor corridor.

It was past noon and the hallways were swarming with students hastening to their next class. By now, the other Gryffindors knew well enough the Slytherin wasn't addressing them and kept on walking.

The Gryffindor he was addressing was Arthur Bennett, who stood opposite him in the corridor, several feet down where he was almost could drown out the Slytherin's booming cry with the chit chat about him. He sighed, stopped walking and turned around, glaring hard at Clarke.

"What?!"

"Come over here!"

"Go away, Slytherin! You have terrible timing! I have to get to class!" he yelled back as loudly as he could. Others started to bump into him and he threw his arm back to avoid another one from knocking his books over. Arthur huffed and turned his heel and started merging with the crowd.

Clarke panicked when he saw the brunette walk away and pushed his way forward. He jumped up and hoisted himself up briefly upon two Ravenclaw's shoulders.

 "Go out with me!"

Everyone stopped in the corridor and stared at the Slytherin.

Arthur choked and flushed bright red.

"What?!"

So.. this is how I imagine Clarke would ask out Arthur if they ever got to that point which is NEVER. Buwahahaha...haha.
